Keeping top score.
Credit Monitoring Protection
McAfee’s credit monitoring protection offers users the ability to view their credit score, get updates through a credit report, and manage their security through our monitoring tools. The goal of releasing this feature was to help expand our user protection to areas including their finances and personal identity.
Final Takeaway
Released in 2023.
To communicate the change in the score, we use a simple animation to show the score progression. Having micro interactions like these within the experience removes some of the friction of viewing information that can be stress inducing.
For the score itself we provide a monthly overview, and we time stamp when the score was last updated based on our calculation.
To get users easily onboarded we ask them for some data including their address and SSN. Once we have that information, we run an API call in the backend and collect data to generate a custom credit score summary. To uphold our transparency standards, we also provide links to our privacy documentation at every step.
In addition to providing users with a credit score, we wanted to give them a quick view of their financial information. Based on user interviews, we narrowed down the overview to four categories including accounts, inquiries, public records, and personal info.
As part of the credit monitoring experience, we partnered with the 3 major credit bureaus including TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax. Collaborating with the bureaus enables us to provide users the ability to contact their bureau directly through our in app experience.
With this feature release, we were able to get over 40% of eligible customers to enroll within the first 90 days. We also had a significant number of existing users convert to a higher paid tier plan just to access this feature.
